Waiting on Summer   Leave a comment

I admit
I supplant the will and the minor notes of lacking integrity
Falling and then catching fast
The foothold of my renegade supernatural
Heartfelt and positively unmarred
Sense of self
The tainted hush
The eagerness to find my feet
Below the surface
And under attack
Politics and simple poetry
That get ushered in and turned into ash
Everyone has the same song
Pressed against the meaningful curve
Of their lips
As they attach every meaningless event
To the turn of seasons and the moniker of
That no one has ever decided so firmly against
As you and the me you thought I offered
But it’s not the time
Nor the place
For such sacrifices
It’s just another day in February
Your summer will wait

What do you think about that?
